Client Brief:
The client’s brief was for a flagship office to consolidate the head offices of the various businesses of the Dale Alcock Group.
Design Solution:
All the above requirements for space and integrating the separate companies into the one building were met. The various company’s resources and spaces are integrated over two levels with the ground level used as a finishes showroom for prospective clients.
The building resides at the intersection of Jon Sanders Drive and Stephenson Avenue in Herdsman, a prominent location with large exposure to passing traffic. Facing the main road, the curtain wall of grey tinted glazing and black colourback glass follows a gentle curve and creates a dramatic background for a signage pier clad in opaque glass that is illuminated from within at night. The surrounds to the curtain wall and awnings are clad in Champagne silver Alpolic.
Stainless steel mesh panels provide necessary shading on the western façade whilst maintaining views from inside to the landscape beyond. The panels are set off the building face in a steel frame, creating a void that allows overhead and diffused light into the offices.
To the rear of the building, a large north-facing outdoor deck on the first floor creates an extension to the kitchen and staff room and provides cover to part of the carpark below. A tinted glass awning offers shelter and makes the space useable in most weather conditions.
The internal fitout was completed by others.
