Client Brief:
The design brief from the client was for a landmark building for the site in the heart of Joondalup.
Design Resolution:
In order to maximise floor space as much as possible, on site parking is provided through a basement and under croft car park accessible from the rear of the site. Two office suites totalling 170m² along with a central foyer and lift occupy the remainder of the ground floor. A further 1360m² of office space is allocated across the first and second floors with staff recreation facilities and a roof deck on the third level.
The facades of the building facing the two main street elevations of Shenton Avenue and Davison Terrace appear as blade walls converging at the corner. These walls are clad in metallic Colorbond panelling and serve as vertical shading to the upper level glazing facing north-west. This is further emphasised by the strong horizontal lines created by the narrow glazing and aluminium louvers. A conservative colour palette of metallic dark silver, grey, white and black is highlighted by bold yellow applied to a vertical entry pier.
The internal fit outs were completed by others.
