Silver Chain Offices & Renovations

SilverchainSilver Chain initially approached Meyer Shircore & Associates for the project because previous architectural practices could not meet the Client's budget. A fresh approach was required.

The existing Silver Chain offices had been incorporated into an old Roller Skating Rink that had been originally constructed in about 1978.

Silver Chain had purchased additional land next door and needed to construct additional ground floor space with the possibility of future first floor space being constructed over the new space at a later date. Furthermore the additional land was to remain on separate "Certificate of Land Title" which meant that we needed to work on two buildings on two different blocks of land but Silver Chain wanted them to appear and function as one building. Fire regulation, construction issues and planning consents would be quite involved.

A budget established at $1,700,000 needed to incorporate the following:

1. Give the existing building a new facade and bring it into the 21st Century.

2. Re-layout the existing open plan office and also create additional offices. The existing office needed to be retained on its own Certificate of Title but link to the new offices.

3. Upgrade the existing reverse cycle air conditioning system.

4. Upgrade the existing call centre.

Silverchain5. Construct an additional 1000m² (Stage I) of floor space incorporating offices and open plan workstations on its own separate Certificate of Title but links into the existing building addressing necessary design and fire issues.

6. Construct a concrete floor over the 1000m² (Stage I) extension ready for the next two storey (Stage II) that would be required in a couple of years. This needed to be done so that when construction commences for Stage II the day to day business operations of the Silver Chain can carry on without any interference. All requirements for the future have been incorporated in Stage I for Stage II.
