Response:
The requirement for maximum floor area and secure parking resulted in a plan where the majority of the floor area is located on the first floor, with a parking lot beneath. Screen walls surround the secure parking, effectively destroying the unwelcome illusion that the entire building is floating over a car park.
Extensive use of glass allows the structure to appear open and contemporary. Adding to the modern, sophisticated sense the building creates is the generous use of aluminium sunshade louvres above the glazing. Frameless glass balustrading, polished and off-form concrete finishes and the restrained use of colour is complemented with feature panels constructed from Donnybrook Sandstone.
Internally a similar colour palette to that used externally is applied, allowing the forms to be appreciated in conjunction with the restrained use of stainless steel feature panels. Entry foyer feature tiling creates leading lines to points of interest and is a continuation of an external paving detail, contributing to a unity between the interior and exterior of the building.
