Client Brief:
The client’s brief was to develop a facility to handle all aspects of their operations from manufacture, storage, distribution and administration.
Design Solution:
The requirements for the warehouse, factory and office were met in terms of its operating procedures and systems. All were purpose designed for the operations of Architectural and Structural Adhesives. The resulting development comprises of two warehouses of 1400m² and 500m², a factory and ‘dangerous goods store’ of 300m² each and offices pace of 270m².
The design intent was for the development to not look like a warehouse. Colours and materials were carefully selected to break up the elevations and the overall perception of the building. The neutral colour palette of dark grey, silver and off-white were selected to tie the separate elements of the building together. The office area and main entry is marked by a strong feature pier and awning clad in silver Alucobond that is reflected in other elements of the design.
Clear anodised aluminium horizontal sun louvers over the windows to the north-east provide sun-shading as well as highlighting the horizontal elements of the design. The use of green tinted and colourback glazing reduces the amount of solar heat transferred into the building, and further breaks up the facade.
The internal fitout of the offices was completed by the Principal.
