Client Brief:
The client had a brief to provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for their product including a vehicle showroom, service centre, parts warehouse and supporting offices for the ‘number one selling truck in Australia’.
Design Solution:
All the requirements of the brief were met and provided for in the program of the building.
A large steel framed canopy extends from the building and successfully marks the ‘pick-up and drop-off’ area for clients servicing their vehicles as well as the delivery point for clients purchasing new vehicles. The canopy also defines the public entry of the building, directing customers past vehicles on display through to the truck showroom, reception area and service centre.
Glass and steel are used extensively throughout the building, reflecting the materials and finishes of the trucks on display, notably in the metallic Longspan cladding and full height shopfront glazing. The glazing not only allows natural light to the showroom and offices but effectively extends the visual continuity of the showroom to include that of the outdoor display areas. Charcoal and silver were selected to complement the corporate colours red and white.
The interior was kept bright and minimal to showcase the vehicles on display as well as giving a modern, contemporary feel.
