Client Brief:
The client’s brief was to develop a ‘boutique’ showroom/warehouse and office facility.
Design Solution:
The client’s desire to maximise the site’s potential along with tight parking requirements made for a juggling act to balance the ratio of office to warehouse/showroom. The resulting development accomplishes this with showroom/office on the ground floor and office space on the floor over.
Care was taken to ensure the development stood out from others in the area. A strong street elevation inspired by Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye is a subtle play on the function of the building. The solid façade is punctuated by voids and appears to float, providing shelter over the car bays below.
Colours and materials were kept minimal and clean, enhancing the lines and austerity of the overall form. The ‘feature’ box is painted off white, floating on concrete columns painted dark grey and almost appears to be pulling away from the neutral background of the warehouse. Clear anodised aluminium louvers and window frames complete the minimal palette.
The internal fitout was completed by the Tenant.
