Client Brief:
The client’s brief was to provide a pleasant corporate environment that conveyed a professional impression to clients and most importantly, created an enjoyable workplace for employees.
Design Solution:
The space is oriented east-west, with large full height windows to the south and minimal apertures to the north. The low ceiling is broken up by two continuous light wells spanning the length of the office. The layout of the office has been designed to optimise the natural light from these sources, with high horizontal and vertical slits of glass in the full height partitioning used to aid the transfer of light between enclosed offices.
Full height glass partitioning was used extensively throughout to give the appearance of open space. The curves of the light wells are reflected in select plasterboard partitions creating differing depths of light and shadow in the offices and hallways.
Soft earthy tones form the base colour palette with a feature of vibrant orange adding contrast. Timber flooring and a custom designed desk with two-tone timber veneers create a striking reception area. Fabrics for the upholstery of the reception furniture and on the workstation screens were selected to complement the wall finishes and to contribute to the overall appearance of a professional yet warm and inviting office.
